Our Club Forum

Welcome to our Club!

The 2010 season is gearing up to be a great one with interest in many age groups and new U9 teams coming in for both boys and girls.

Our Club began in 2005 with 3 teams growing to 13 teams in the 2009 season.  We will have teams ranging in ages from 8 to 18. Our continued growth can be attributed to the coaches who are committed to providing a quality youth program in our community and the dedication of the players. Run by volunteers our organization works to promote sportsmanship and skills.

VOLUNTEERS

YEAR END BANQUET DATE FOR 2010 TBA

Our year end banquet for 2009 was held at the Lambeth Community Centre with close to 300 players and parents attending.  Lots of fun was had by all.

The message from the President to all in attendance...

....Tonight I wanted to take a few minutes to talk about my experience in the past years on,  What makes a team?  In my opinion, a team is not just made up of coaches and players, it is the parents and fans as well.  It takes all of us working together to have a successful season no matter what the outcome of a game is.

Over the years of coaching I have learnt that a team includes: running fun, planned practices; having excited, energetic and committed coaches; player and parent commitment to the team; possitive attitudes again from coaches, parents, players and fans; positive player attitude to each other both on and off the field; its about the 24 hour rule; it is following the codes of conducts to create the best environment for our players (yes we all need to keep working on that one and I will keep sending out reminders); its about a parents meeting at the beginning of the season and setting expections; its about everyone supporting the team; its about parent involvement - setting up the nets, snack nights etc; having a good manager; its about returning emails; going for ice cream no matter what the outcome of the game; pizza nights; ice cream shack nights; pool parties; tournaments; creating memories and having "team" times"; its about coaches and parents making sure that the team is having fun and enjoying playing the game; that we say thanks to the players for a great game or a good play and that we thank our coaches for their efforts.   I am sure we can add to this list ..and it may not be that this list is for every team...but I wish that for your player.

It is remembering that we are all volunteers so that if everyone does a little no one has to do allot.

What I wish for all our players is that we continue to work towards maintaining a positive attitude at all times. Anger at other teams, players, referreres or coaches should not exist in front of the players.  Due to the passion of sports it is hard to stay positive at all times however, I would like us to be thinking about making that happen on the way to the game.

What I wish for our club is that we continue to make every effort to be positive role models in all situations.  Our Club will probably grow a few more teams yet again for 2010 and I am already looking forward to next season - soccer is a great game!
